Dr. Tom Bahler
More Than a Mentor

Although it’s been 68 years since Dr. Tom Bahler started his career at Utah State University, his legacy of success continues to this day. He was a beloved teacher and mentor to hundreds of students. He went above and beyond in his role as a pre-health advisor: he was our advocate, friend, and for many, he felt like a second father. During his years at USU, he mentored an estimated 340 students, who went on to become physicians or dentists. His success is attributed to his genuine interest in students as individuals. It would not be a stretch to say that, had it not been for Dr. Bahler, many of us would not have gone on to become health professionals.

Currently, the College of Science at USU is in the process of raising money to build a Life Sciences Building. It will be a teaching laboratory facility centered on students. There will be 13 new teaching laboratories in this facility. In addition to offering introductory and foundational courses, the Life Sciences Building will offer a variety of advanced laboratory courses, including an Advanced Physiology Lab, where students will receive relevant education and training opportunities that will prepare them to lead either in the workforce or in medical and dental schools.

Dr. Bahler was particularly known for his physiology courses and we are asking that you join us to raise funds to honor Dr. Bahler by naming the Advanced Physiology Lab after him. This is a great opportunity to honor Dr. Bahler’s legacy with the naming and more importantly, to honor his legacy by supporting the students about whom he was so passionate.

Please join us in giving back in honor of someone, who gave us so much by making a pledge to support this project.

Sincerely,

Dr. Harmon Eyre
